BLAME MADISON AVENUE. MAD magazine. Shep Fairey. But
the fact is, I just love a good campaign.
Even ad campaigns. When they're good, they're good. But if
you're looking to feel good about a good campaign, there's nothing better for
that than a good campaign for a good cause.
One that people will even join up with.
That was the rationale behind the Horse's Burma is important campaign. And people
did spread the word, even creating their own "Burma is important images. Kinda
cool. And shoot, even if no one saw a single one of those images (which wasn't
the case) it would still be great that someone took the time and made one.
Anyone who enjoys making any kind of art knows: just doing so can really help
you to realize things and to deepen a connection or two to what you're thinking
about during the artmaking process.
But a campaign can and should try and go deeper than just
fortifying those who contribute to it. It should of course disseminate a message, and ideally, that message would hit with at least some concerned
segment of the world's population. Ultimately, it would spur those who came
into contact with it into awareness, and maybe even action.
But a campaign can also be a message of support, not just about the cause the message touts, but
TO the people for whom that cause is the most urgent.
What with the web and street art and texting and all the zillion
other ways even flash-in-the-pan messages get around, even the smallest
campaign stands a chance to be seen and heard (or at least heard of).
So here's one:
It's just a simple message, but any message that might
give a boost to a struggling and deserving people should at least be given a chance, right?
At least, it's worth a try.
So why not join in?
Please make your own message of support
to and for Tibet, in the form of a graphic or email or blogpost or whatever. Get those words out there, and let's just
see who might hear them.
We'll post and/or link to on the Horse's blog, Horsefeed.
Just email us with your link or graphic (ideally, the size of the above image
or smaller) and the Horse will share your message with readers.
Or hell, start your own campaign. Whatever it takes!
